Telehandlers Drive Efficiency on South African Farms

South African farmers are increasingly turning to telehandlers particularly the Faresin range as versatile tools that boost productivity, reduce costs and streamline operations across the agricultural value chain.

Originally designed for construction and mining, Faresin telehandlers are proving invaluable on farms thanks to their compact design, high ground clearance and rugged durability. With attachments like grain buckets, bale clamps and manure forks, one machine can handle tasks such as lifting, stacking, feeding and cleaning whilst eliminating the need for multiple specialised vehicles.

“These machines are engineered for multiple sectors but their adaptability makes them ideal for agriculture. Farmers benefit from doing more with fewer machines,” said Alistair Bennett, Managing Director of SkyJacks, Faresin’s Southern Africa distributor.

Operator safety is also a core feature. All Faresin telehandlers come with ROPS and FOPS protection, reinforced cabs with 360-degree visibility and boom lights for low-light operation. The Queen Cab offers climate control and ergonomic controls, while precision boom handling and hydrostatic drive ensure smooth, responsive operation.

“Safety and comfort aren’t extras but they’re essential. Our machines offer full visibility, accurate steering and fuel efficient performance, critical for long farming hours,” added Bennett. Telehandlers help drive cost efficiency by reducing fuel use, cutting maintenance and minimising downtime. SkyJacks supports customers with 24/7 technical support and renewable service plans to maximise uptime.

Bennett shared, “The Faresin telehandler isn’t just a machine, it’s a productivity partner. In today’s agricultural landscape, mechanisation is no longer optional but it’s a necessity.” As the sector shifts toward more scalable, technology driven practices, multipurpose machinery like Faresin telehandlers will play a growing role in building sustainable, competitive farming operations across South Africa.
